About this project
The Egyptian Red Sea Initiative (ERSI) works to reduce the drivers of coral reef degradation while developing new financing sources for reef-positive businesses and sustainable livelihoods. The program supports the protection of coral reef ecosystems in the Egyptian Red Sea by advancing research on coral resilience, identifying and safeguarding climate refugia, and promoting sustainable financing mechanisms for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) that host critical reefs and provide essential ecological and socio-economic benefits to local communities.
