About this project

The “Building climate resilience in India by initiating the national adaptation plan process and scaling up adaptation finance” project will help formulate a NAP for India by following a country-driven, culturally appropriate, gender sensitive, participatory approach taking into consideration the needs and sensitivities of diverse vulnerable groups, communities, and ecosystems. The NAP will aim to mainstream climate adaptation into the country’s development policies and plans and ensure adaptation considerations are integrated in key priority sectors and regions. These include agriculture, water resources, the Himalayan region, coastal regions, health, and disaster management. The NAP will include an implementation plan which will lay out the actions that need to be taken to implement the adaptation measures identified in the plan. A NAP financing strategy will also be developed to identify opportunities and financing modalities for enhancing investment in adaptation. The proposed project also aims to scale up adaptation finance in the country by catalyzing private sector engagement.
