Climate Promise-Tanzania NDC 3.0 Process

About this project

The UNDP Climate Promise: From Pledge to Impact project, as part of Tanzanias NDC 3.0 process, focuses exclusively on developing and revising Tanzanias Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3.0. The initiative emphasizes preparatory activities such as policy reviews, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the revised NDC is comprehensive, inclusive, and aligned with Tanzania’s national development priorities and international climate commitments. This work plan addresses critical gaps in adaptation and mitigation efforts while enhancing ambition through sector-specific, gender-responsive, and youth-inclusive strategies. It integrates nature-based solutions and robust governance frameworks, supporting sustainable development and advancing Tanzania’s position as a leader in regional climate action and resilience-building. Globally, the initiative aligns with the UN’s Climate Promise, which supports over 125 countries in strengthening their NDCs, contributing to the Paris Agreements objectives to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Through this collaborative framework, the project promotes transparent, inclusive climate governance and robust implementation mechanisms, reaffirming the UN’s commitment to helping Tanzania achieve ambitious, economy-wide climate goals for a sustainable and resilient future for its people and ecosystems.
