About this project

At the Intersessional Approval Process for the 93rd meeting of the Executive Committee (ExCom) held in December 2023, through of the document 93/89, the ExCom approved the Kigali Implementation Plan Stage I (KIP I) for Trinidad and Tobago for the period 2024 to 2029 to reduce HFC consumption by 10% (568,178 CO2-eq tonnes) of the country’s baseline (5,681,787 CO2-eq tonnes). Stage I of the KIP will reduce 10% of the HFCs consumption by 2029. This project will be financed with US $1,177,695 plus agency support costs (GMS) of US $82,439 for UNDP as lead agency. The proposed activities in Stage I include the promotion of good refrigeration practices, and the implementation of the licensing and quota system. The activities planned by Trinidad and Tobago, including efforts to improve servicing practices and enhance refrigerant recovery and reuse, indicate that the implementation of the HPMP will reduce the emission of refrigerants into the atmosphere, therefore resulting in climate benefits.Of the resources implemented through UNDP, the first tranche for USD$543,249 is scheduled for 2024-2025, the second tranche for USD$516,677 is scheduled for 2026-2028 and the third tranche for USD$ 117,769 is schedule for 2029.
