About this project

The project aims to enhance flood resilience in Kazakhstan by strengthening dam safety and flood preparedness, directly supporting the disaster risk reduction and water priority sectors outlined in Kazakhstans updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). The updated NDC includes a dedicated chapter on climate change adaptation, emphasizing the importance of water resources management and disaster risk reduction as national adaptation priorities. This project aligns with these goals by improving infrastructure and preparedness measures to mitigate flood risks. Additionally, it complements the UNDPs ongoing initiative to integrate national adaptation plans into regional development strategies, ensuring a unified and comprehensive approach to climate resilience and sustainable development throughout Kazakhstan.
