DEVELOPING NATIONAL CAPACITIES TO THE RESILIENCE OF POPULATION TO CLIMATE VULNERABILITY IN THE CAR

About this project

The Development of national capacities to promote the resilience of populations to climate vulnerability project aims to help CAR meet its national and international commitments to combat climate change by facilitating the transition to decarbonized electricity systems. The project is well aligned with the United Nations cooperation framework in CAR, in particular the associated results under the Planet pillar: By 2027, the resilience of the government and people is strengthened through sustainable management of natural resources and the environment. It also contributes to the associated results under the population pillar: by 2027, the population of CAR, in particular women, children, young people and other vulnerable groups access and use inclusive and sustainable quality services in education, health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security and social protection.UNDP (lead partner) and UNICEF (co-lead partner) are combining their expertise in the energy and social sectors to help the government speed up the implementation of decentralized, clean and affordable energy solutions, focusing on micro- and mini-grids in rural and peri-urban areas, namely the outskirts of Bangui, in order to improve peoples living conditions and incomes.
