About this project

SGP-OP8 builds on 30 years of successful experience in empowering local CSOs and CBOs to implement community-driven initiatives that have enhanced well-being, increased environmental awareness and resilience, and delivered significant global environmental benefits. As economic development pressures intensify across the developing world—and inequalities continue to rise—local communities, particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, are becoming increasingly marginalized.In response to these challenges, the objective of Part 1 of SGP-OP8 is to engage local CSOs and CBOs in integrated landscape and seascape approaches across the 99 participating countries. This includes expanding their access to knowledge and information, strengthening capacities through learning-by-doing and targeted skills development, and providing both technical and grant assistance. Through these efforts, SGP-OP8 aims to support community-level interventions that improve socio-economic conditions while simultaneously generating measurable global environmental benefits.
