About this project

The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) is a GEF initiative that empowers localcivil society and community-based organizations (CSOs/CBOs) to address environmental challenges whileimproving livelihoods. Implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on behalf ofthe GEF partnership, SGP provides financial and technical support directly to civil society organizations(CSOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), and vulnerable groups. The programme provides supportfor projects in Biodiversity, Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Land Degradation and SustainableForest Management, International Waters and Chemicals. The programme (OP8) which will focus on the following priority areas: (i) community-based managementof threatened ecosystems and species, (ii) sustainable agriculture and fisheries, and food security, (iii) lowcarbonenergy access and co-benefits, (iv) local to global coalitions for chemicals and waste management,and (v) catalyzing sustainable urban solutions as well as 3 other crossing cutting priorities: a) Increasingopportunities for local innovations and scaling up b) Enhancing approaches to strengthen social inclusion c)Leveraging private sector and business-oriented approach.
