About this project

The ‘Strengthening climate adaptation in key sectors of Mali to contribute to a climate resilient green economy’ project aims to provide a comprehensive adaptation planning framework, with sectoral adaptation plans, while enhancing associated coordination mechanisms and capacities. It will build on the first NAP that has been developed using existing data and baseline information. It does so by providing a more in-depth characterization of adaptation needs in key sectors (agriculture, forestry, water and sanitation, energy, waste, transport infrastructure, and health). It also ensures a more comprehensive consideration of cross-sectoral issues critical to Malis context, including gender, social inclusion and protection, peace and security, and human mobility. With this focus, the NAP readiness project seeks to contribute to establishing a clear pathway towards resilient development within and across sectors. This project would do so through strengthening adaptation planning governance and institutional coordination (Outcome 3.1) by developing sectoral adaptation plans and revising the first NAP, enhancing institutional capacities, and ensuring effective decision-making through improved coordination frameworks across sectors and national and subnational administrative levels.
