About this project

The project aims to restore degraded old-growth forests, wetlands, and grasslands while enhancing ecological connectivity through innovative, participatory approaches. Vulnerable pilot sites will be assessed to guide tailored restoration measures such as reforestation and wetlands rewetting, implemented via a competitive Challenge Call involving stakeholders to promote employment, skills development, and women’s leadership. Legal, regulatory, and financial frameworks will be updated to align with EU directives and international commitments, integrating climate resilience, biodiversity standards, and private sector support, including women-led enterprises. Public awareness and stakeholder knowledge will be strengthened through workshops, campaigns, and educational programs, prioritizing gender equity and community engagement. Robust risk management, monitoring, and evaluation systems will ensure sustained results, aligning with biodiversity targets and international standards
