About this project

This Initiation Plan establishes the analytical, strategic, and operational groundwork for the next phase of UNDP’s development engagement in Cox’s Bazar. It responds to the district’s evolving context, where drastically declining humanitarian assistance, persistent socio-economic vulnerabilities, environmental degradation, and heightened climate risks require a transition toward long-term, development-anchored sustainable solutions. The plan will enable the potential preparation of a comprehensive pro-gramme grounded in evidence generated by Cox’s Bazar Analysis and Reporting Unit’s (CARU) real-time analytics, disaster risk assessments, livelihoods and market studies, environmental diagnostics, and so-cial-cohesion research. The IP will facilitate stakeholder consultations, technical analyses, and design of scalable interventions across resilience, livelihoods, skills, waste management, digital inclusion, and governance, comple-menting UNDP’s national level programming. It will integrate conflict-sensitivity, gender equality, climate considerations, and social cohesion into the programme architecture. The expected output is a complete programme document with a results framework, risk and financing strategies, partnership modalities, and implementation arrangements. This IP will provide a solid foundation for mobilizing resources and scaling interventions that support both host communities and Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) in a balanced and sustainable manner.…
