About this project

The Joint Programme (JP) for Ghana, across both phases, aims to catalyze the transition to sustainable, resilient, and equitable food systems through innovative financing and nature-positive soybean value chain development. The JP will pilot and scale climate-smart production, circular processing, nutrition-sensitive procurement, and policy alignment—enabling 10,000+ youth and women to engage in green agribusiness, improving dietary diversity for 1 million+ schoolchildren, and restoring 10,000+ hectares of degraded land. Expected yield increases of 40%, food loss reduction by 50%, and boosted processor capacity (30%) will strengthen food and income security. Under the programme, UNDP will explore the possibility of introducing a Loan Portfolio Guarantee Facility to de-risk private sector lending, enabling inclusive finance for farmers and MSMEs. Well also look at setting up a national Platform to harmonize policies and subsidies with climate and biodiversity commitments, fostering an enabling environment for sustained transformation.
