About this project
The National Plastics Action Programme (NPAP) directly addresses these systemic challenges by providing a structured, data-driven, multi-stakeholder platform that consolidates national plastics data, strengthens coordination, aligns EPR and county systems, and guides implementation through a national Action Roadmap. The initiative brings together government institutions, the private sector, civil society, academia, and development partners to align policy, evidence, innovation, and investment across the plastics value chain. Through the NPAP, Kenya will strengthen national data on plastic flows and leakage, develop and operationalise a National Action Roadmap to eliminate plastic pollution, establish criteria for problematic and unnecessary plastics, and mobilise public and private financing to support circular economy solutions. The programme will also support innovation, promote inclusive and gender-responsive approaches, and strengthen public awareness and stakeholder engagement to drive behavioural change.
