About this project
To tackle pressing environmental challenges, the project addresses the decline in Caspian Sea water levels by strengthening cooperation among the littoral states to enhance regional water governance. By fostering integrated transboundary data sharing, policy dialogue and joint action, the project promotes coordinated management of shared water resources across the Caspian basin. Central to this effort is the enhancement of Kazakhstan national monitoring capacities on the most affected northern region and inflows. This project will directly support the coherent implementation of Kazakhstan’s policy of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), and contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
