About this project
Indonesia hosts more than 13,100 persons of concern to UNHCR, including 9,991 refugees and 3,158 asylum-seekers. Most of the persons of concern to UNHCR in Indonesia are from Afghanistan (57%), Somalia (10%) and Myanmar (5%). Refugees and asylum seekers in Indonesia live in urban settings in several cities in Indonesia including Jakarta, greater Jakarta area, Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Batam, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Makassar, Kupang and others. 27% of the persons of concern are children, while 73% are adults (25% women and 75% men). UNHCR Indonesia works closely with government counterparts, partners, other UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society supporters to protect refugees and asylum seekers and identify solutions for them. Our protection programmes are done in collaboration with stakeholders, including in the provision of emergency and life-saving assistance, as well as in addressing the special needs of persons of concern. This activity shows details of the UNHCR operation in Indonesia for 2025 and future years including the budget, funding, expenditure and results.
