About this project

In response to heightened security risks, a Field Security and Risk Management (FSRM) assessment identified critical measures to ensure operational continuity and personnel safety. Five additional Mobile Security Officers will be hired and assigned to specific geographic areas to provide on-ground support and conduct field assessments. To enhance mobility in high-risk areas, four armoured vehicles will replace the outdated fleet. Field personnel will be equipped with 50 VHF radios, ten Garmin InReach tracking devices and personal protective equipment to ensure safety and operational effectiveness during crises. Specialized security training in first aid and risk management will be provided to 50 UNRWA staff to strengthen preparedness in high-risk environments. UNRWA will continue its engagement in Lebanon’s coordination structures, collaborating with UN agencies, the Lebanese government and NGOs to support humanitarian needs, including for IDPs in UNRWA emergency shelters. Existing partnerships will be maintained and new ones established where needed, with continued participation in sector working groups under the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan. Additionally, UNRWA will conduct an external evaluation of its emergency response to assess impact, identify challenges, and draw lessons to inform future strategy.
