About this project

UNRWA will launch a Cash-for-Work (CfW) initiative to create 800 short-term unskilled job opportunities supporting emergency operations, including handling emergency supplies, solid waste collection, sanitation linked to displacement, and cleaning in health centres and schools. Beneficiaries will be compensated based on work type and hours, with roles tailored to include labour-constrained individuals such as the elderly and persons with disabilities. A vulnerability assessment will guide the equitable allocation of CfW positions, with targeting criteria based on its findings. To improve the effectiveness of cash assistance, UNRWA will implement a "cash plus" approach targeting 500 Palestine refugee households. This combines cash transfers with tailored support to foster livelihoods and resilience, aligned with the Syria Early Recovery Programme Strategy (2024–28) and the UNRWA Syria Early Recovery Programme Strategy (2025–28).
