About this project
UNRWA will deliver primary health care to vulnerable Palestinian refugees in Jordan, including PRS, stranded Gazans, PRI, and displaced refugees from Lebanon. Around 11,664 consultations will be provided via 25 health centres and four mobile clinics, complementing services for ex-Gazans without Jordanian ID. The Agency will also support approximately 1,587 hospital referrals, including 1,087 PRS unable to cover costs. The reimbursement ceiling will increase to US$ 704 for 500 individuals lacking access to public health services. Additionally, the full cost of prosthetic devices will be covered for 200 refugees with disabilities. As of November 2024, Garden Camp hosted 520 people - 443 PRS and 77 Syrian refugees. UNRWA will provide an estimated 6,839 consultations for these residents via the Jordan Health Aid Society. Two community health workers will promote mental and oral health awareness, while a mobile dental clinic will serve 443 PRS patients. The outdated dental vehicle will be replaced to ensure continued outreach, especially in the Jordan Valley. To meet growing MHPSS needs, UNRWA will recruit four psychiatrists and eight counsellors across Irbid, Zarqa, North Amman, and South Amman to serve 1,000 persons. Finally, 496 health staff will be trained in infection prevention and control to enhance emergency response capacity.
