About this project

The Project will contribute to the adaptation to climate change of poor and vulnerable rural populations in the Old and New Lands of Egypt, by developing and implementing nature-based and climate-resilient techniques ? ensuring that no one relying on agricultural production and agri-food systems for their wellbeing is left behind (including landless, unemployed, underemployed or seasonally employed rural women and youth). The Project will thus reduce food insecurity induced by climate change and will improve livelihoods. This contribution will be achieved through the support of participatory, integrated and community-based approaches adapting smallholder livelihoods and agri-food system practices to climate change ? promoting techniques with long-term and proven sustainability, namely enhancing biodiversity and alignment to water-energy-food nexus principles. In achieving this impact, the Project will contribute to the following Canada?s International Climate Finance Programme Logic Model Intermediate Outcomes: (i) 1200, ?Enhanced adoption of gender-responsive climate-smart agriculture (CSA) and food systems for nature-positive climate change mitigation?; and (ii) 1400, ?Enhanced adoption of gender-responsive nature-based solutions, with biodiversity co-benefits, for climate change mitigation and adaptation in developing countries? ? with 8,118 vulnerable smallholder farmers
