About this project
This project aims to strengthen the resilience of forests and trees in Armenia to forest pests, diseases, and other invasive species, protecting the benefits they provide to local communities now and in the future. Achieving this goal requires a shift from a reactive to a proactive approach in addressing forest health challenges. Early intervention is more effective and less costly than responding to an established pest. The project will establish a national surveillance and emergency response system for forest pests, diseases and other invasive species, through pilot studies focusing on pests and diseases of key forest tree species. It will improve forest health and, more specifically, promote the adoption of good forest health practices, enhancing Armenian forests contributions to food security, environmental protection, employment opportunities, and income generation for the local communities.
