Preparation of Studies to Develop the Overall Performance of the PAAF in the State of Kuwait

About this project

The State of Kuwait, through the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF), is working towards strengthening the agriculture sector and food security in Kuwait. In the context of reforming the sector and enhancing food security, Kuwait intends to restructure the PAAF to better enable the institutional structure for efficient and effective food security management. These reforms include the procurement, storage, processing and marketing of agriculture, livestock and fishery products. The main objective of this technical assistance and capacity building initiative is to develop these food security-related sectors, promote local production and achieving self-sufficiency, thus contributing towards the food security. A key opportunity lies in its engagement with the FAO, as its longstanding partner can support the increased local production output, strengthen its market pricing and positioning, and reduce existing resource loss and waste. As a result of this proposed exercise, the State of Kuwait will improve their capacity to identify, package, sort out, and market all local agricultural, animal, and fishery products to various associations and markets at a suitable price based on the agricultural, animal, and fishery seasons, allowing farmers and producers to make a good profit margin.
