About this project
This Country Programme Outcome (CPO) supports Brazil in advancing comprehensive employment and labour protection policies in a context of persistent structural challenges, including high levels of informality, unequal access to quality jobs, and barriers to labour market inclusion for vulnerable groups. It promotes the integration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) into national strategies, while strengthening policy coherence across employment, social protection, and sustainable development agendas, including just transition processes. The expected outputs include the generation of evidence through studies on trade and employment, labour market inclusion pathways, green jobs and skills development, and sustainable entrepreneurship, as well as initiatives on wages, working time, and collective bargaining. These outputs are expected to strengthen national capacities to design and implement integrated and inclusive policy frameworks, improve working conditions, and support fairer labour outcomes. In parallel, actions to advance just transition and sustainable development will enhance institutional capacity and policy alignment across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. Collectively, these efforts are expected to contribute to reduced informality, expanded social protection coverage, improved job quality, and more inclusive and sustainable labour market outcomes in Brazil.
