About this project

Jamaica is transitioning to a greener economy, facing challenges from climate change that threaten development and economic security. The country has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing resilience through policies in the energy and land-use sectors. The ILO will support Jamaica with a green job assessment model project to address data gaps and promote policy coherence by integrating labour market considerations into national climate change policies. The ILO's support will involve a revitalized multipartite mechanism for policy development and implementation, focusing on gender-responsive strategies and just transition. Key interventions include integrated policy development, social dialogue, and targeted strategies to promote responsible business conduct. This initiative will benefit the government, social partners, and the broader community by enhancing adaptive capacity and promoting sustainable economic growth.
