About this project
The protracted crisis and violent conflict in Libya have severely affected the economy and labor market, leading to high unemployment and widespread poverty, especially among women and youth. In response to these challenges, the International Labor Organization (ILO) proposes strengthening national capacities to promote inclusive entrepreneurship, particularly for youth, as a mean of creating concrete decent employment opportunities, especially in the private sector, to directly contribute to stabilisation and fostering social cohesion, as indicated by the ILO Recommendation R205 concerning Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience. At the same time, the ILO will support the Libyan Office in aligning the National Population and Employment Survey (NES) with the most recent international standards, including the recommendations of the 19th, 20th, and 21st International Conferences of Labor Statisticians (ICLS).
