About this project

Myanmar continues to grapple with humanitarian crisis, instability and economic hardship, with a signification portion of the population facing displacement and needing humanitarian assistance. The need to create decent and productive employment opportunities is in high demand in Myanmar. The outcome recognizes the particular importance of job creation for women and men of working age to increase their labour market participation. ILO advocates and promotes decent working conditions by engaging with ILO’s social partners in the country. In the aftermath of devastating earthquakes in March 2025, ILO steps up efforts to meet recovery needs in the affected regions. Rapid assistances were provided though socials partners and CBOs. Emergency Rehabilitation Employment programme was launched and has provided jobs for local communities to generate income to meet their daily needs. The programme is part of the ILO’s long term recovery plan for disaster and conflict effected communities in Myanmar. In line with UN engagement guidelines, the ILO works with social partners in implementing programme in strengthening the capacity of national actors on crisis prevention, preparedness, response and recovery and at least 25,000 decent workdays for vulnerable community members to be generated.
