About this project
The programme aims to engage Local financial partners (LFPs) to scale up private sector climate finance. • The programme will contribute to mainstreaming climate change mitigation and adaptation in the financial sector, with a large component dedicated to vulnerable people and communities. Adaptation will be a particular focus, with a 60/40 mitigation/adaptation split. • A significant portion of the programme will be allocated to MSMEs and low-income households to overcome the barrier of high risk profile by extending loans with market pricing but longer tenor. • The program will promote local capacities through a strong technical assistance component and aligning with the notion of country ownership, including seven least developed countries and one small island developing State in sub-Saharan Africa.
