About this project
The programme will develop three solar green mini-grid pilot projects, bringing clean and modern energy to sizeable towns. • The programme is the first of its kind and scale in the country, from the perspective that it incorporates a battery storage solution to ensure a continuous supply to consumers overcoming the intermittence of solar generation, while catering to a demand across various consumer categories. • The framework aims to address the financing bottlenecks that the private sector faces in developing green mini-grid projects. The framework provides a tailored financing structure that will facilitate the participation of local and international sponsors, which until now have not participated in the financing of green mini-grid projects of such scale. • The programme has the potential to pave the way for the design and implementation of future green mini-grid programmes across the country and in the region.
