About this project
BOAD is a lending facility that aims to address the financial and technical barriers to solar investments in the least developed countries (LDCs) of the francophone West Africa region. • The programme is expected to accelerate private sector solar investments and create a favourable market for investments in solar teechnologies with a blended finance approach, providing long-term concessional debt financing. • With private finance mobilization and capacity builidng, the programme is expected to improve clean energy access and decarbonize the energy mix of the targeted LDCs with a large electricity deficit and dependence on fossil fuels. • The programme is expected to quadruple the existing solar capacity in the target countries, providing access to 2.9 million people in the region.
