About this project
EGIP aims to support the pioneering development of a viable and alternative procurement mechanism, at scale, for renewable energy involving non-sovereign entities such as industries and municipalities. • The framework supports the development of new RE market modalities and business models by facilitating a disintermediation of RE markets through non-sovereign offtake • The framework also aims to promote an increased involvement and equity participation of local communities and South African MSMES, which mainstreams local communities and business with the country’s climate targets and is aligned with the country’s socio-economic objective of mainstreaming the majority black participation in the national economy.
