About this project
KawiSafi II is an equity fund intending to utilize a blended finance structure to unlock commercial climate investment capital in the African region. • It provides an access to a diversified portfolio of early stage start-ups in multiple sectors that are innovating low- and zero-carbon technologies, in the target countries. The Fund has appropriate limits on investments and industry concentration to ensure risk diversification. • It supports clean technology investments in Sub Saharan Africa through blended equity fund structure that derisks commercial capital.? • It has an unique structure where GCF concessionality is designed to directly catalyze commercial investors, while public capital does not benefit from such a concessionality.
