About this project

ASAP aims to mobilize concessional finance to mainstream Solar PV investments among urban and grid-connected MSMEs and households, contributing to the reduction of Ghana’s GHG emissions, and creating a favourable environment for sustainable energy financing over the long term. • The programme has strong climate basis, which envisions improving Ghana’s heavily fossil-fuel reliant energy mix especially amid the reduced hydropower capacity of the country due to climate change impacts. • Concessionality passed on to end beneficiaries, with the potential to generate cost savings while the AE takes on end-beneficiary credit risk • With a comprehensive approach to developing local markets for Solar PV projects and capacity building, the programme has replication potential, potentially showcasing successful solar PV systems industry growth and expansion.
