About this project

The Resilient Community Development Project (RCDP) will target areas that are vulnerable to climate and disaster risk (CDR) and will follow a phased, cluster approach, grouping vulnerable townships in the same area. The project has identified clusters of poor townships in regions exposed to CDR using climate projections and 2014 census data. It will benefit about 1.8 million people in 17 townships in Ayeyarwady, Chin, Sagaing, and Tanintharyi. The project will support the Government of Myanmar in strengthening its community-based development (CBD) policies and procedures. It will strengthen community resilience and reduce the food insecurity and poverty of rural people living in vulnerable areas, by building their capacity and providing resources to invest sustainably in climate- and disaster-resilient and market-oriented infrastructure and livelihoods.
