About this project
The project will address climate vulnerabilities, food security and livelihoods of rural farm households in the most flood-damaged districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The proposed project will contribute to (i) increased agricultural productivity by providing flood-affected smallholding farmers with critical agriculture inputs and training in the safe and efficient use of those agricultural inputs; (ii) improved household nutrition through agricultural input support and training to female farmers; (iii) improved digitalization for farmers to better access extension services, markets, and climate and disaster information; and (iv) increased institutional preparedness for climate-induced disasters with interventions utilizing information and communication technology. The project will contribute to the government's Resilient Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Framework strategy and investment priority. It will bolster the agriculture sector's response to the impact of the 2022 floods in the province and will support flood-affected smallholder (and tenant) farmers. The project will improve the resilience, livelihoods, and food security situation of rural households. The support will cover 23% of the area under wheat cultivation, 32% of the area under rice cultivation, and 50% of the area of vegetable cultivation in the project districts.
