About this project

The overall objective of the project for Benin is to improve access and retention in basic education by supporting the INSFP towards advancing human capital development goals and commitments in the Republic of Benin. It is also an investment in the future of children to mitigate the negative impact of the pandemic that has caused schools to close. To this end, the project aims to develop inclusive, efficient, and resilient education systems, contributing to healthier and more nutritious diets for children, as well as to the transformation and sustainability of food systems, especially local ones. The specific objectives of the project are: (i) to support the expansion of school feeding coverage in Benin's public elementary school from 75% to 100% by 2026; (ii) to increase enrollment and retention of girls and boys in elementary school; (iii) to support the improvement of diets and livelihoods of communities by strengthening their food systems; and (iv) to support income generation for communities through the local supply of foodstuffs and the creation of local jobs
