About this project
Nearly four years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Poland continues to host nearly one million Ukrainians under Temporary Protection, making it one of the primary destinations for those fleeing the ongoing war. Despite the comprehensive and immediate response by the Polish government, NGOs, and international community since 2022, the protracted displacement of refugees from Ukraine continues to strain Poland's social systems, necessitating additional support mechanisms to improve their access to basic needs and services. Through this project, IOM aims to provide a holistic package of urgently needed humanitarian support for the most vulnerable refugees from Ukraine and affected communities in Poland. Building on over 20 years of experience working in Poland, IOM will leverage its operational presence in Mazowieckie, Malopolskie, Podlaskie and Podkarpackie Voivodeships to contribute to reducing the barriers to basic humanitarian services and supporting humanitarian recovery for the most vulnerable refugees, especially those living in precarious shelter situations, the elderly, unaccompanied and separated children, persons with disabilities, survivors of trafficking, survivors of gender-based violence, as well as humanitarian actors/frontline responders.
