About this project
The proposed project delivers a coordinated, multi-sectoral humanitarian response to conflict- and climate-affected populations in Somalia, with a focus on internally displaced persons in Southwest, Hirshabelle, Middle Shabelle, and Galmudug. Implemented by IOM over 12 months, the intervention integrates shelter and non-food items, protection services, camp coordination and management, and displacement tracking to ensure timely, dignified, and accountable assistance. Responding to a protracted crisis driven by climate shocks, insecurity, and structural fragility, the project prioritizes highly vulnerable groups—including women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities—who face acute gaps in shelter, protection, and basic services. Through improved identification of new arrivals, strengthened service coordination, and enhanced accountability, the project aims to reduce protection risks and vulnerability. Key activities include rapid shelter assessments, survivor-centred protection support, site-level coordination mechanisms, and robust data systems to enable evidence-based targeting. Collectively, these efforts will enhance the coherence, effectiveness, and inclusivity of humanitarian action in evolving displacement contexts.
