Providing life-saving shelter, camp coordination and camp management, and cash assistance to disaster affected internally displaced persons andvulnerable returnees in 10 municipalities in El Salvador

About this project

In 2026, El Salvador faces humanitarian challenges driven by recurrent droughts, increasing human mobility, and seasonal disasters. Below-average rainfall is expected to impact livelihoods, food security, and water access, while the rainy season brings recurrent floods and storms that trigger displacement, activate emergency shelters, and strain local response capacities. At the same time, returns have increased significantly, placing additional pressure on vulnerable communities. This intervention focuses on addressing urgent basic needs and reducing immediate protection risks through multipurpose cash assistance, shelter support, and strengthening of emergency shelters and reception facilities.
