About this project
The renewed escalation of hostilities since 2 March 2026 has led to large-scale and highly fluid internal displacement across Lebanon, further intensifying humanitarian needs and placing additional pressure on already fragile infrastructure and basic services. In this project, IOM is delivering integrated, life-saving assistance targeting displaced and conflict-affected populations in high-risk locations by addressing immediate needs. This includes the provision of core relief items (CRIs) to support basic household needs and reduce exposure to health and protection risks, alongside the rehabilitation and upgrading of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities in collective sites to improve access to safe and dignified services. In parallel, Community-Based Event Surveillance (CBES), integrated with the Ministry of Public Health's surveillance system, is being implemented to strengthen early warning and referral mechanisms, enabling the timely detection of and response to communicable disease risks in overcrowded and underserved settings.
