About this project
In 2026, Poland continues to host over 900,000 Ukrainians under Temporary Protection, with over 13,000 of the most vulnerable refugees living in collective accommodation centers (OZZ). Many of the shelter residents are elderly persons, severely ill or recently hospitalized patients, mothers with infants, and persons with disabilities. These vulnerabilities, as well as language barriers and trauma from the war, are significant barriers to employment, development of healthy, self-sufficient livelihoods and integration into Polish society. This project aims to enhance the dignity, safety, and well-being of vulnerable Ukrainian under Temporary Protection residing in OZZ across Poland. Through a structured partnership with the Biedronka Foundation, IOM is distributing prepaid cards to individuals identified as the most at-risk. These cards will enable beneficiaries to access essential goods, primarily food and hygiene products, from the Biedronka supermarket chain, while preserving autonomy and reducing negative coping strategies.
