About this project
This program will be implemented in anticipation and support of forthcoming KfW initiatives designed to substantially increase access to finance for promising SMEs with sustainable business models, via Apex funding to be channeled through partner commercial banks. IOM programming will: (1) Scale up current IOM initiatives and interventions by other actors to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem, fostering greater dynamism in this ecosystem and producing next-generation SMEs to drive private sector growth and downstream demand for credit and other banking services; (2) Enhance the investment readiness of promising SMEs (through direct, focused engagement) to create a vanguard cohort of candidate businesses primed for financing through forthcoming KfW partnerships with commercial banks. Through close engagement with SMEs, IOM will then be well-positioned to identify ongoing access-to-finance barriers and communicate these issues to partner banks to inform the development of their products, services and customer service.
