About this project

Papua New Guinea (PNG) is highly vulnerable to recurrent and compounding natural hazards, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, droughts, and landslides. These events result in widespread displacement, economic disruption, and human suffering. The impacts of these disasters are intensified by PNG's limited infrastructure, weak service delivery systems, and low levels of community resilience, which hinder both effective preparedness and response and response capacities. In response, this project in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) seeks to strengthen PNG's emergency preparedness, anticipatory action, and rapid response capacities. The project adopts a comprehensive, data-driven, and health-sensitive approach to preparedness, disaster risk management, and emergency response to displacement.
