About this project
The project generates evidence and lessons that will inform national and global policies on Antiticpatory Action, and contribute to wider humanitarian learning through platforms such as the Working Group on Anticipatory Action for Displacement. Designed for scalability, the project provides adaptable models and tools that can be replicated in other contexts, helping strengthen global preparedness and supporting a shift toward proactive, data-driven humanitarian action. The project creates learning labs in displacement settings (in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Nigeria) where partners and community members co-design anticipatory action plans tailored to local needs. These plans guide early interventions, such as preparedness support and timely delivery of early warning messages, when forecast triggers indicate rising risk. The project strengthens the ability of displaced communities in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to anticipate and prepare for hazards before they occur. By combining advanced forecasting tools with community-led planning, the project enables earlier, more targeted assistance that reduces the impact of shocks and helps prevent further displacement.
