About this project

Building on previous efforts funded through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, this project will upscale efforts to contribute to improved disaster preparedness and response operations at national and local levels, and effectively address the needs of mobile vulnerable populations, including Internally Displaced Populations (IDPs). IOM is working closely with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), among others, to support immediate access to safer and more dignified shelter assistance during disasters, mitigating the adverse impact of crises, promoting early recovery and contributing to more resilient communities across the Philippines. IOM is also supporting enhanced capacities of Government in the implementation of national shelter and Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) programs, mainstreaming of protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and coordination of operational responses to disasters that meet international standards. The project seeks to optimize national and local ownership and sustainability through maximizing the participation and leadership of government stakeholders and communities across all project activities.
