About this project
Mauritania, particularly the Guidimakha region, is exposed to recurrent droughts, the impacts of which quickly result in the degradation of livelihoods, increased pressure on natural resources, and early humanitarian needs. Within the framework of Drought Anticipatory Action (AA), IOM contributes to reducing these impacts by strengthening informed decision-making among at-risk communities through the consolidation, adaptation, dissemination, and community ownership of multisectoral early warning messages, complementing the sectoral interventions of WFP, FAO, and UNICEF. The project objective is the following: the communities most exposed to drought in 12 targeted communes of Guidimakha have access to clear, reliable, and accessible information, enabling them to anticipate the impacts of drought and adopt behaviours that protect livelihoods and community cohesion.
