About this project

Through the third year of the project, IOM supports Afghan populations and host communities across Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan by promoting recovery, social integration, resilience and access to durable solutions. The intervention contributes to International Migration Capacity Building Program (IMCBP) priorities by strengthening migration governance, expanding access to essential services and supporting community-based approaches that foster social cohesion. Across these countries, IOM works with national and local authorities, civil society, service providers and community partners to improve access to protection, health, livelihoods, education, legal assistance and other multisectoral services. Activities include capacity-building, community engagement, referral and case management, vocational training, small business support, and support for preparedness and response to migration-related emergencies. The project also advance localisation by strengthening leadership and participation of local responders, including community-based groups, civil society organizations and affected communities. In line with IOM's rights-based and conflict-sensitive approach, activities prioritize persons in situations of vulnerability, including women and girls, while supporting inclusive, sustainable and community-led solutions that benefit Afghan populations and host communities alike.
