About this project
Displaced populations often endure harsh living conditions, lack access to adequate shelter and clean energy and are exposed to protection risks. While the number of displaced populations and humanitarian needs increase globally with nearly 120 million displaced in 2023 (UNHCR, Global trends report), funding particularly in protracted crises is often limited compromising standards. The project seeks to leverage sustainable finance to ensure the continuity and scalability of these interventions in a protracted crisis context with limited funding. Overall, this project seeks to build IOM's capacity to develop sustainable business cases and models, and promote the use of greener fuels, sustainable building materials and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for infrastructure in other humanitarian settings by replicating and expanding such financing models globally.
