BBNJ Ratification and Implementation Support in Ecuador

About this project

The project aims to support Ecuador in the ratification and early implementation of the BBNJ Agreement under UNCLOS. It will assess the country's legal, policy, and institutional frameworks to facilitate compliance with the agreement, identify gaps, and develop national strategies to enhance governance of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ). The project also includes capacity-building activities, stakeholder engagement, and awareness-raising initiatives.The total project budget is 2,682,750 and GGGI will implement USD 175,000.
