About this project
Guyana’s coastal regions are home to a significant portion of the population, and they face increasing threats from climate change, including rising sea levels and coastal erosion. The “Coastal Resilience & Mangrove Restoration Project” was launched in September 2024 as part of a collaborative effort between GGGI, NAREI, and other national stakeholders. This initiative aims to enhance coastal resilience by restoring and preserving critical mangrove ecosystems, thereby protecting vulnerable communities and supporting the sustainability goals outlined in Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) and National Mangrove Action Plan 2022-2032.
