About this project

The project seeks to increase access to sustainable finance that allows the country to meet its long-term goals for biodiversity conservation, as well as increased access to finance for local stakeholders, contributing to the financial sustainability of different conservation models and strategies. To this end, the government of Peru will be supported in designing the financing strategy for the recently approved NBSAP. Likewise, the project will design innovative financial instruments and mechanisms that contribute significantly to the 30x30 target, mobilizing resources from the private sector to the forest sector including habitat banks and biodiversity credits. Finally, the project will focus on designing a pilot of one of the designed financial instruments in Peru. GGGI submitted an EOI and was selected to progress to the second stage of the application process and to submitt a full proposal.
