Enhancing Uzbekistan's Paris Agreement Implementation and Supporting for Cooperative Action with the Republic of Korea under Article 6

About this project

This project will enhance the scope and capacity for implementation of the Government of Uzbekistan NDC and support readiness to identify and mobilize carbon finance with the following components:1. Support Enhancement of Uzbekistan’s NDC, NDC Implementation Plan and Project Pipeline identification.2. Support Development and Institutionalization of capacity development on MRV of GHG emissions, bottom up GHG inventory and NDC actions tracking as well as tracking of carbon credits transaction (national carbon register).3. Support Development and Institutionalization of Governance and Policy frameworks to enable the voluntary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea under Article 6 of Paris Agreement.4. Assessment/identification of the potential suitable mitigation project pipeline and support origination of at least 1 project to be presented to the Joint Committee for validation under the Framework agreement as a cooperative approach as envisaged under such Agreement. This project builds on the ROA02 Aral Sea GRIP project TA outputs that designed, tested, provided investment case for scaling up climate smart agriculture farming windbreaks and tree nurseries, as this project will establish the frameworks and institutional capacities to set NDC targets for, monitor implementation of, and enable potential mobilization of climate/carbon finance for scaling of these technologies nation-wide.
